Installing a wig properly is key to achieving a natural, secure, and comfortable look. Whether you're a first-time wig wearer or a seasoned pro, following these steps will help ensure a flawless installation. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to install both lace front and full lace wigs.

  1. Prepare Your Natural Hair
  • Clean and Dry: Start with clean, dry hair. Wash and condition your hair, then allow it to dry completely.
  • Braid or Slick Back: For better wig adhesion and a smoother base, braid your hair into cornrows or slick it back using gel or pomade.
  • Secure and Flatten: You can also pin your hair flat against your head using bobby pins or hair clips. Ensure there are no bulky areas to avoid uneven wig placement.
  1. Fit the Wig

          Adjust the Wig Cap:

  • Size Adjustment: Before placing the wig on your head, adjust the straps or elastic bands inside the cap to fit your head size. Our wigs come with adjustable straps to help you achieve a snug fit.

         Placement:

  • Position: With wig cap on, place the wig on your head, starting at the front edge. Ensure it sits comfortably and aligns with your natural hairline.
  • Check Fit: Make any necessary adjustments to ensure the wig fits securely and evenly across your head.
  1. Secure the Wig

          For Lace Front Wigs:

  • Apply Freeze Hairspray: If your wig is a lace front, apply a thin layer of freeze hairspray like “got2be Glued freeze hairspray” to your natural hairline.
  • Press Down: Carefully press the lace into the adhesive, starting at the center and working your way outwards. Use hair dryer to fasten this process to ensure a secure bond.

          For Full Lace Wigs:

  • Secure with Freeze Hairspray or Adhesive: Full lace wigs can be secured using adhesive around the perimeter of your hairline. Apply adhesive around the entire edge of the wig.
  • Secure and Blend: Press the lace into the adhesive, ensuring it adheres evenly. Use hair dryer to fasten this process to ensure a secure bond
  • Adjust Fit: Make final adjustments to ensure the wig is comfortable and secure.
  1. Style the Wig
  • Trim Lace: Trim the excess lace off carefully using small scissors. Be cautious not to cut too close to the hairline.
  • Blend: Use a concealer or foundation that matches your skin tone along the hairline to blend the lace seamlessly with your natural skin.

Additional Tips

  • Wig Cap: Wear a wig cap underneath to provide an extra layer of protection for your natural hair and help the wig stay in place
  • Adjustments: If the wig feels too tight or too loose, make adjustments to the straps or bands as needed
  • Remove Carefully: When removing your braided wig, use a wig adhesive remover to gently lift the wig without pulling on your natural hair.
  • Regular Maintenance: Keep your braided wig clean and well-maintained to ensure it remains in good condition and continues to look natural.
